Personal circumstances (you know: who you happen to know) led me to “find”
the esoteric traditions.
In a not so odd way, esoteric mysticism led to esoteric (quantum) physics:

Time dependent perturbation of the Hamiltonian.
Physics, and my inner emptiness, led to Philosophy.
East and West seemed so far apart.
A gap that I was not alone in recognizing. Or perhaps others led me to that understanding.

“A tear in the eye of a western man will tell you about salt, carbon, and water. But a tear in the eye of an oriental man will tell you about sadness and sorrow, or the love of a man and a woman.” -- Jefferson AIrplane/Starship |
In spite of it all, I was intellectually bored. So I started working on robotics.
It was around that time when I started dating things differently.
Here's the date from the bottom of the sheet of paper on which the
physics equations shown above are written:

November 13, 34AH.
I had picked up on something rather important somewhere along the line.
I became aware that the date that we use as a hallmark for dividing our centuries
had become utterly irrelevant because humankind had crossed a great divide.

34AH = thirty four years After Hiroshima (August 6, 1945).
