They sure are real. Well, not quite photos of course, because we don't have a data transfer pipeline worked out with them. Like the other information they transmit, it is up to the author to render the impressions they send. So, the pictures are renderings based on their intentions. That's a murky answer. On the other hand, the images are not photos of two models here on earth.

"him." This is a problem of the English language -- that we don't have gender neutral pronouns. K’me K’ea insisted that we address this in the books. Which we have, as you'll see when you read them.
Are they affected by astrological forces?Your're question presumes that we here are affected by astrological forces. Anyway, I haven't yet heard anything of the astrology on Atria. We don't yet know anything of their planetary system. A good question; a topic of which we hope to learn more.
